Utility’s Clearfield and Paragould manufacturing plants receive safety awards from Liberty Mutual Insurance
Utility’s Clearfield, Utah and Paragould, Arkansas manufacturing plants both received a Liberty Mutual Insurance Safety Award this year. Liberty Mutual’s Safety Award is based on DART rates (Days Away, Restricted and Transferred), which is calculated from the number of hours worked relative to the number of accidents at the plant. Low numbers of accidents result in lower DART rates.
The Clearfield plant achieved a DART rate of 1.62. “Being recognized by Liberty Mutual for the second year in a row is a big deal. But not as big a deal as sending employees home to see their families and loved ones after every shift. Without the support of both Utility’s owners and employees, we could not have achieved this award,” said Dennis Wilson, Utility’s Clearfield Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager.
Utility’s Paragould plant achieved a DART Rate of 1.10, which is 80% lower than the trailer manufacturing industry’s average of 5.5. “We are grateful for being recognized by Liberty Mutual and for receiving their Gold Safety Award. This award is evidence of the hard work of our employees, with the support of Utility’s owners and management,” said Sean Graddy, Utility’s Paragould Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager.
“This is a major accomplishment for our Paragould Plant, the first of our facilities to ever receive a Gold Award. Both plants have now received its 8th Liberty Safety Award. Our employees and management team deserve all the credit for continuing to keep themselves and their fellow employees safe,” said Bob Griffis, Corporate EHS Manager for Utility Trailer Manufacturing.
