Tacton CPQ Rolling Out In 2025
DQS replacement introduces unique features and advantages
Beyond trailer manufacturing, transport refrigeration, and safety breakthroughs, Utility Trailer’s commitment to continuous improvement also extends to dealers’ sales and quoting processes.
Tacton CPQ (Configure Price Quote) is the latest innovation from Utility to transform the quoting and sales experience for dealers.
Why the change? And what makes Tacton CPQ such a game-changer for dealers and sales teams?
The primary advantage and reason for shifting to Tacton CPQ is its cloud-based operations, a long-desired feature from many sales personnel at the dealership level. The previous and outgoing system, internally known as DQS, stores all data locally on users’ devices, posing several challenges.
“Every price book update or software version requires manual reinstallation,” Brett Olsen, the manager of Tacton implementation, said. “This process is not only time-consuming but also dependent on constant monitoring of changes and updates in option availability or pricing.”
DQS limitations highlight the need for a more efficient solution. Tacton CPQ addresses these issues by storing all data in the cloud, ensuring information is up-to-date and accessible from anywhere. This change eliminates the need for manual updates, streamlining the entire process.
Tacton CPQ is similar to other CPQ systems for quoting products from other vendors and companies. However, Tacton boasts unique features and advantages that set it apart.
Tacton CPQ is user-friendly and has a minimal learning curve. Its intuitive interface makes it easy for dealers to navigate and use effectively. The system includes powerful search filters to save time and effort, allowing users to quickly find options by number or keyword.
Another standout feature is the system’s interactivity between dealers, quote coordinators, and regional sales managers, which is 100% digital, streamlining communication to ensure everyone is on the same page.
One feature carried over from DQS is its conflict resolution capabilities. Tacton’s configuration engine, however, has more robust configuration functionality. If there are any issues with a quote, the system suggests alternative options to resolve them. The automated system reduces the need for manual intervention and minimizes the risk of errors.
Another development still in the works is the ability for Tacton CPQ to support images, making it easier for dealers to visualize products and configurations.
Dealers can use Tacton CPQ to create customer quotes and print purchase orders directly from the system, further simplifying the sales process. Sales managers can oversee all open quotes within their team, providing better visibility and control.
Utility’s national accounts sales group has more than seven months of experience using Tacton CPQ, with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Users prefer the new system over the old DQS, and beta test dealers are already experiencing the benefits.
Utility set an ambitious goal: 100% dealer participation in Tacton CPQ by the end of 2025. The plan is to begin by having at least one dealer within each regional territory using the system by the end of July before rolling it out to the remaining dealer network.
With Tacton CPQ, dealers can look forward to a new era of efficiency, accuracy, and ease in their quoting and sales processes.
