New Interstate Utility Trailer Location Open for Business

Dealer rings in 2025 celebrating new 12.5-acre facility and appoints new president

Interstate Utility Trailer has reason to celebrate. The Ohio-based dealer is expanding into the Louisville, Kentucky, area, and newly appointed Lance Hanson is taking charge of the company as president.

“Lance has 27 years of experience in sales and service in the on- and off-highway industry and we are excited to have him join the Interstate Utility family,” outgoing Interstate Utility Trailer president Jeff Barber said. “He couldn’t have come at a better time as we expand and grow our company into the Louisville market.”

A short seven miles north of Louisville, just across the Indiana state line, a state-of-the-art trailer sales, parts, and service facility represent the latest expansion efforts of Interstate Utility Trailer.

Interstate Utility Trailer’s location in Cincinnati, Ohio, was one of the first Utility dealers east of the Mississippi River when it first opened in 1976. Over the years, Interstate Utility Trailer added other Midwest facilities near Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana.

“Expanding into the Louisville area just makes sense. We have covered the area for more than 30 years and know all the customers for parts, sales, and service,” Barber said. “This new facility has us closer to our customers whereby we can provide better parts and service to our valued customers. An added bonus is this new location is less than one minute off highway I-65. Ease of access for our customers was an important factor in Interstate Utility’s search for this location.”

The 12.5-acre facility is located at 5263 Progress Way, Sellersburg, IN, 47172, and features space to park up to 250 trailers. The building totals 34,000 square feet, including 20,000 square feet dedicated to 12 service bays stretching 70 feet long.

“We currently have 19 mechanics on staff for both in-shop repairs as well as mobile, on-site repair services we’re excited to offer,” Interstate Utility’s director of operations Gary Stewart said. “We are extremely excited about the prospects of further growing Utility Trailer and Cargobull North America from this top-tier facility.”

In addition to 5,500 square feet for offices, the new facility’s parts department includes a 2,000-square-foot showroom and a 7,200-square-foot inventory warehouse.

“Our talented replacement parts department currently includes eight employees with two outside sales representatives, counter staff, and warehouse and delivery personnel,” parts manager Chad Varner said.

Barber will remain in a supportive capacity as Hansen takes on his new president position.

“Jeff’s leadership is a testament to his years of dedication at Interstate Utility Trailer,” Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company president and COO Steve Bennett said. “As we welcome Lance into his new role, we are confident he will continue the hard work and commitment Jeff has established.”
