Acquisition creates new Mountain West Utility Trailer dealer group

Three prominent Utility Trailer dealer groups are merging to introduce a new entity operating under a new name: Mountain West Utility Trailer Inc.

The acquisition unites regional dealer groups with long Utility Trailer histories: Utility Trailer Sales of Utah, Utility Trailer Sales of Idaho, and, most recently, Utility Trailer Sales Company of Arizona. This strategic move consolidates operations from Salt Lake City, St. George, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada, with facilities in Boise and Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington, and now with Tolleson (Metro Phoenix) and Tucson, Arizona.

President and CEO Justin Deputy will spearhead the new company alongside his brother and chief sales officer, Spencer Deputy, out of Salt Lake City, Utah.

“Combining forces with our neighbors to the north and south allows us to better serve our customer base,” Spencer Deputy said. “The Idaho, Washington, and Arizona operations provide us with a high level of transport refrigeration unit expertise, which will enhance our ability to serve our customers with the full line of Cargobull TRUs and Utility trailers.”

“This is only the beginning of our expansion program,” Justin Deputy added. “In the coming months, we will be upgrading facilities, expanding and updating our fleet of mobile trucks, increasing our trailer inventory, and onboarding more technicians to ensure we take care of our growing customer base.”

Utility Trailer Sales Company of Arizona, established in 1943, is the country’s longest continuously-running Utility dealer. Under the leadership of George Cravens, the dealership experienced tremendous growth and had to relocate its Phoenix operations twice due to outgrowing previous facilities. George will remain in his current role, managing the Arizona locations for Mountain West Utility Trailer.

The Kilkenny family previously operated Utility Trailer Sales of Idaho for two generations. Jack Kilkenny led the business for 35 years before passing the torch to his son, Sean Kilkenny, for 28 years. Sean is transitioning out of the company leadership to a consulting role for Mountain West Utility Trailer.

“It has been a great pleasure to work with Sean Kilkenny and his family all these years,” Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company President and COO Steve Bennett said. “He and his team have done an amazing job in their market area, and he has the company in good hands with the Deputy family. We wish Sean the very best in his new role and upcoming retirement.”
