Utility and Food City Partner with Feeding America
Utility’s Glade Spring, Virginia manufacturing plant has partnered with Food City to make a significant food product donation to Feeding America’s Abingdon, VA center, where it will help feed families throughout Southwest Virginia. “This is one of the ongoing examples of how the men and women of Utility Trailer respond to the needs of their community by helping out in meaningful ways,” said Sam Cassell, Glade Spring Plant Manager. “It represents the commitment Utility has to serving not only our customers with the finest quality trailers, but those in need. We want to show that our trailers can be used for a special purpose to help families facing hunger.”
“We at Feeding America Southwest Virginia, appreciate the help from Utility and Food City. The donation will assist us in our mission to feed Southwest Virginia’s hungry and help us in our fight to end hunger,” said David Millsap, Abingdon Branch Director, Feeding America Southwest Virginia. “The money we received will be used to purchase food for the Harvest Home Community Kitchen and the canned vegetables and fruit will last approximately 5 to 6 months. The kitchen serves approximately 785 meals per week and the donations will be used to complement the protein, salad and bread that is served in each nutritious meal. The donated food will allow us to prepare approximately 15,000 meals.”
“Food City is proud to have the opportunity to partner with our friends at Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company to help provide food assistance to our friends and neighbors in need throughout our region,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City President and Chief Executive Officer. “We would like to applaud Utility’s employees for their generosity in helping make this donation possible.”
